Eastern Shore of Virginia Photo Expedition

SPRING 2026

Keeping the Tradition Alive

For those of you who have been coming to Cape Charles since the Nikon Cafe days, you know exactly why we keep coming back. There’s a certain magic to the Shore that never gets old. Since continuing the tradition when I moved here, I’ve loved seeing this group grow and evolve.

Whether this is your tenth trip or your very first time joining the photo club for a weekend on the Shore, I can't wait to share my “backyard” with you. I’ve spent years scouting these marshes and docks, and I’m still finding new corners to capture. (I even have a 2’x3’ metal print of one of my favorites hanging in my living room!).

What to Look Forward to

Spring is a special time here—the bird migration is in full swing, the marshes are turning that vibrant green, and the light over the Chesapeake is spectacular. Whether you’re here for the breathtaking sunrises, the birding, the historic fishing villages, or the quiet statement of an abandoned railroad car, there’s a shot waiting for you.

Details

The Vibe: This is a collaborative field trip. I’ll provide the “Master Map” and suggested timing for the best light, and we’ll meet up to shoot, eat, and catch up. Come and go as you wish, and feel free to explore any areas on your own as well.

When: We’ll meet up the weekend of April 18-19, 2026. I’ll send more info about the itinerary to the email list.

Stay: I’ll be at my home on the Shore. If you’re looking for other lodging, Cape Charles and Onancock have great boutique options.

Optional Excursions: Depending on interest, we can look into a sunset sail or an eco-boat tour of the barrier islands.

Four-Legged Photographers Welcome

One of the best parts of the Eastern Shore? It’s incredibly pet-friendly. If you don't want to leave your best friend at home, bring them along!

Most of our outdoor photo locations are dog-friendly, so your pup can join us for sunrise at the marsh or sunset by the bay. Just keep in mind that your choice of lodging will be the main factor—many Airbnbs and a few local hotels in Cape Charles and Onancock are happy to host pets.

Let’s start!

Join the "Interested" list here to stay in the loop. I’ll use this list to send out all the logistics as we get closer.
